Linguist

In our interpretation of the play, The Taming of the Shrew, Grant Wang was assigned the role of Linguist. As linguist, Grant's duty was to incorporate words from the 1920s into our play, and also to research the dialect/vernacular of English in the Elizabethan era and define them accordingly. Another aspect of Linguist was to come up with a fitting soundtrack to our project.

Grant completed his role during spring break, so as to include a few words in the script without making the film too forced and unnatural. He researched and defined 50 unique terms, 25 from each era, very quickly. The Sherlock-themed soundtrack was inspired by both BBC Sherlock and A Game of Shadows, another interpretation of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock. As an avid Sherlock Holmes fan, having seen the American take on Sherlock and having read the original series, Grant was intimidated by some undertones emphasized in the BBC's version of Sherlock. Though he was extremely hesitant at first, Grant eventually watched a few episodes of Sherlock and respected the friendly relationship between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

Grant also brought the two cameras and filmed most, if not all, of the scenes he was not in. So thus, our group must formally thank Grant for being rich and awesome. Thanks for the camera, Grant!!!
